As the marketing copywriter for United VARs, the global alliance of SAP partners for the midmarket, I am on the hunt for the latest trends and developments in the industry. To start the year, I thought it would be interesting to reflect on which of the topics I wrote about in 2022 were the most popular with our audience: C-suite leaders at midmarket, global organizations.

So, I’m thrilled to present to you our top five blogs of 2022. I selected these posts based on the number of readers and engagement from our valued customers and prospects. Of course, these topics are still relevant in 2023 and I’m sure you will find in them useful information. The list below contains an overview of each post, and I encourage you to read in full those blogs that seem most relevant to you.

1. The Changing Face of HR

The Changing Face of HR was our most-read blog of 2022. In this post, I delved into the ways in which technology is revolutionizing HR management in the midmarket. From automating tedious tasks to utilizing data analytics to uncover patterns and trends, SAP HR technology is making it easier for companies to manage their workforce in a more efficient and effective manner.

As technology continues to evolve at a breakneck pace, it's imperative for HR managers and directors to stay up-to-date on the latest developments and trends in order to stay competitive in today's business landscape. One of the key takeaways from this blog is the importance of automating tedious HR tasks and using data analytics to identify patterns and trends. This is particularly crucial for ensuring that companies have the right people in the right roles to achieve their business and diversity objectives.

Another vital theme of the blog is the emphasis on employee engagement and the ways in which companies can use technology to improve this. This is a critical issue for HR managers and directors, who are tasked with attracting and retaining top talent in order to build a strong and effective workforce.

In addition to the practical implications for HR leaders, the theme of revolutionizing HR with technology is also intriguing from a broader perspective as it touches on societal trends and the ways in which technology is shaping the future of work.

2. Packaging Up ERP for SMEs

In second place is the blog, Packaging Up ERP for SMEs. This post looks at the challenges small and medium-sized businesses face when implementing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. I outlined that many SMEs lack the resources and expertise to fully harness the benefits of ERP systems. I also shared tips and best practices for SMEs looking to implement ERP systems, such as starting small and focusing on specific areas of the business.

One of the key themes discussed in the blog is the significance of scalability in an ERP system. As SMEs grow and expand, their needs and requirements change. A scalable ERP system allows for easy adaptation and growth as the business evolves, without the need for costly and time-consuming system replacements.

Another important theme is the need for flexibility in an ERP system. As SMEs operate in a variety of different industries and niches, their needs and requirements can vary greatly. A flexible ERP system allows for customization and tailoring to the specific needs of the business, ensuring that it is optimized for the unique challenges and opportunities that the company faces.

The blog also covers the importance of cost-effectiveness in an ERP system. SMEs often have limited resources and budgets, so it is essential that they choose an ERP system that is both affordable and provides a high return on investment.

3. CX CoE Roundtable Discussion

Ranking third in the United VARs most popular blogs of 2022 is CX CoE Roundtable Discussion. This post was a brief recap of a roundtable discussion we held with some of our United VARs members who are experienced in SAP CX (customer experience) implementations. We discussed the importance of CX and the ways in which companies can use technology to improve the customer experience.

We also shared insights from our customers on the challenges they face and the solutions they have found to improve CX in midmarket organizations. This is a popular topic amongst the C-suite, because they are looking to differentiate themselves in a crowded market and retain customers in the long-term.

One of the key themes discussed in the blog is the need for a data-driven approach to managing CX. The most useful CX technology not only collects customer data, but also analyses it to identify patterns and trends, which can then be used to inform decisions and make improvements to the customer experience.

4. HXM and the Future of Work

In fourth place is HXM and the Future of Work (HXM). This blog covers the importance of human experience management (HXM) and how companies can use technology to enhance the employee experience.

As we all know, employee experience plays a critical role in the success of any organization. When employees are engaged, motivated, and satisfied with their work, they are more likely to perform at their best, be more productive, and stay with the company for a longer period of time.

The blog explains that HXM is not just about providing employees with the tools they need to do their jobs, but it is also important to create a positive and engaging work environment that caters to the whole person - physically, emotionally, and digitally. The blog also features examples of companies that have successfully implemented HXM and the positive impact it has had on their employees and bottom line.

HXM is a holistic approach that focuses on understanding and enhancing all aspects of an employee's experience. By using HXM technology, managers and directors can gain a deeper understanding of their employees' needs and tailor their approach to meet those needs.

5. Follow SAP's Lead to Improve Your Mental Clarity, Focus and Wellbeing

Last but not least, in fifth place is a bit of a ‘curve ball’ topic for a technology organization; Follow SAP's Lead to Improve Your Mental Clarity, Focus and Wellbeing In this post, I looked at the importance of mental health and wellness in the workplace and how companies can support their employees' mental wellbeing.

In today's fast-paced business environment, maintaining mental and physical well-being is crucial for leaders to think clearly, stay focused, and lead effectively. I shared some of the steps that SAP has taken to promote mental health and wellness within its own organization and gave tips for other companies looking to do the same.

One of the key takeaways from the blog is the importance of taking regular breaks to refresh the mind and body. This is especially relevant for managers and directors who often find themselves pulled in multiple directions and dealing with high levels of stress.

This is not only important for their own wellbeing, but also for the overall success of their organization. When leaders are in good mental and physical health, they are better equipped to make sound decisions, lead their teams effectively, and drive the organization forward.

By following the example set by SAP and implementing strategies to promote mental health and wellness within their own organizations, managers and directors can foster a healthy and productive work environment for all.
